D8 Science Day 2022 will be LIVE!
After a pandemic induced hiatus, The Ohio Academy of Science's District 8 is happy to announce that, provided public health requirements allow, we plan on an in-person, on campus LIVE Science Day to be held on March 19, 2022 at Ohio University Lancaster.

DETAILS: Some (but not all) changes are indicated below. More information will be provided individually.  Persons or schools interested in participating must indicate their interest by completing the survey linked here prior to Jan. 21
  • All participants must complete all registration forms, including ISEF forms, by the registration due date.  No exceptions.
  • For the comfort of all participants during the ongoing pandemic and in compliance with Ohio university policy, participants and judges will be masked during this event.
  • A superior score at a local science day is *not* required for participation, however it is strongly encouraged.
  • Participants are strongly *encouraged* to present their projects electronically (Power point, Slides, etc.) on their own devices. This is because State Science Day will be virtual. Bring your own device to give the presentation. There will be outlets to charge your device but charge ahead of time please. Also, tri-fold posters are still acceptable for presentation but you will bring the tri-fold to the judges.
  • A final report that includes the Research Plan plus the collected data, discussion of the results and conclusions, and the abstract is required for registration.
  • District Science Day projects receiving a Superior rating will be promoted to State Science Day. If a student is promoted to State Science Day, they will be required to submit a short video of their presentation (5 to 8 minutes). Details about State Science Day will be found at the tab labelled "SSD" above.
  • High School students interested in participating in the Buckeye Science & Engineering Fair should see details in the tab labelled "BSEF" above.

COVID CONCERNS?  VIRTUAL OPTIONS
The Ohio Academy of Science respects and is concerned for the health and welfare of all students interested in participating in Science Day.  To accommodate those students who wish to participate but are uncomfortable with a live, in-person event, both District 8 and the Ohio Academy are creating virtual events. The District 8 virtual event is planned for the week of the in person event.  Students within the OAS District 8 section are expected to attend the District 8 virtual event. You must express your interest to participate in the virtual event by completing this form no later than Feb. 21.  REGISTRATION FOR THE VIRTUAL OPTION IS NOW CLOSED.

ELIGIBILITY AND REGULATIONS: District 8 Science Day is the district science fair for students in grades 5-12 attending schools of Fairfield, Licking, Pickaway and Perry counties. Students who enter District Science Day typically (but are not required to) have earned a superior rating at a local science day held at their school, school district or within their county. Projects that have followed Ohio Academy of Science standards from students who come from schools where local science fairs are not held are also welcome providing you contact the District council person for permission.
Rules and regulations for entries to this event, judging criteria and quotas for participation at State Science Day are regulated by the Junior Academy Council of the Ohio Academy of Science (OAS).
